The Challenges of Designing for the Playdate
Hello everyone,
One of the toughest parts of developing Sudoku Time was balancing features and graphics with the Playdate’s technical limitations while ensuring the game was still enjoyable.
The Playdate’s screen is small, and early on, many of my ideas looked great in the emulator. But once tested on the actual device, issues popped up: numbers were too small to read, or lines were either too thin or too bold. Adjusting the visuals to make the game clear and accessible without losing its style took a lot of trial and error.
This process taught me how important it is to design with the hardware in mind from the start. I hope these tweaks have created a better experience for everyone playing on their Playdate!
What do you think of the visuals? I’d love to hear your feedback!
